God Wants To Use You
Often times we wait for a solution and pray saying "God, please help them... Please let this happen..." Though God is fully capable to act on these prayers and do more than we can imagine, He also works through people. He can also work through you.
It was early April, with most days being sunny and 50-60°F. This is until 29°F weather hit and it snowed hard. I was sitting in my dining hall later that day, looking through long glass windows, when I saw these cute little robins on the edge of the sidewalks, just outside of the grassy area covered in snow. They looked confused, and I realized that the sudden winter weather must have made it hard for them to find food. So, I prayed, "God please provide them with food". Later, I was making my way to the campus library with my long, puffy coat. I saw more robins on the ground, near the snow-white fields. I prayed again, "God please do something about this; please feed them".
Then it hit me: I have seeds! What if I feed them? I went all the way back to my dorm, while doing research along the way on what robins can and can't eat, and if they'd recognize what seeds are. I got a pack full of pumpkin seeds and was ready to feed the little cuties. I held my seed pack in one hand so it was easy to access when I saw a robin. However, after I spotted one looking for food, I looked at all the students walking around me. I started thinking, "I'm going to look weird if I’m seen feeding them. What if they get too scared and fly off? What if they don't eat the seeds? That would be embarrassing." So I went straight to the library, looking at each robin as I passed by, and put my seeds away. I felt terrible.
It is one thing to know that you can be the solution to something, it's another to be confident enough to do it, knowing God is using you, in your position, to bless people or help them. It doesn't matter what people think and it doesn't matter if no one else is doing the same thing; in the same position; or caring about the things you care about. Keep focused on God, not on man, and work with Him — rely on Him — to carry out what He planned for you to do. He wants to use you.
Verses: Psalms 118:6 NIV, Ephesians 2:10 NIV/ESV
"The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” (Psalms 118:6 NIV)
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10 NIV)
Ephesians 2:10 in ESV:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (I like how it says that God prepared beforehand because I’m reminded that He planned my purpose, I just have to follow Him and go through the process with Him, it will happen)
