Never Alone

Remember those times when you’re staring out the window while riding on the bus, lost in your thoughts because something’s bothering you, or when you keep yourself occupied on your phone to distract yourself from feeling a certain way? Or, maybe you drive to work, and when you’re alone in the car, you start to think, “I feel so lonely. I’m all alone. I have to deal with this by myself.” As a college student, I’ve felt that way sometimes. Finally having independence but then realizing, “Woah, it’s all on me now!”

However, it’s not all on me; and it’s not all on you. Jesus is always with us. It doesn’t matter if we don’t see Him or feel Him. He’s available to us all the time. All you have to do is talk to Him, and you can talk to Him about anything… your problems, your fears, and even your pain or shame.

Jesus doesn’t want you to feel burdened or alone. He says in Matthew 11:29-30, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” When Jesus says, “take my yoke upon you”, He’s inviting you to share your day with Him. You will find that your problems don’t feel so big or heavy when you talk to Him throughout your day. When you feel burdened, tired, or overwhelmed, He wants to support you, help you overcome your struggles, and help you grow stronger as a Christian so you can help others. He’ll teach you how to navigate through your problems if you talk to Him and trust His guidance. Jesus never wants us to feel alone. He loves us too deeply. Know that you are in God’s hands and on His mind. Reach out to Him; pray to Him now, and you’ll find that you are never alone.

Verses: Matthew 11:29-30 NIV, Psalm 139:7-10 NIV

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” (Psalm 139:7-10 NIV)
