Stay Close

It’s so important to stay close to God. Parents do so much for us – they provide for us, care for us, and many of our desires are accomplished through them. Have you ever asked your parents for something you wanted at the store and they bought it for you with their money, though they could have easily said no?  Or, has your parent ever ran an errand for you so you could chill at home or work on a more convenient task?  These are examples of your will being accomplished through someone you are connected to, because you have the benefit of being connected to them – the respect, love, and consistent time you have for one another keeps you in close relationship with one another.

However, sometimes you can get too comfortable with what your parents do for you, and you become ungrateful. When this happens, things get rough because the things you want that can only be accomplished through your parents are now left up to you since there is a lack of trust and communication, and your parent feels disrespected. Hence, when you want a new product and don’t have the money, you don’t dare to ask your parents because you know you are on bad terms with them. Even if you are bold enough to ask them, they may say, “Do it yourself” or “You find the money.”

Likewise, when we stay close to God, He is able to accomplish what He wants through us because there is open communication and trust as we worship Him, honor Him, focus on Him, and put Him first. When we stray from God, things get rough. We put the extra burden of trying to do what God told us to do on ourselves, which eventually makes us stressed, tired, burnt-out, and discouraged. Or maybe, we focus on something we want apart from God’s will, which leads us to a place of confusion, stress, and stagnation. We feel like it’s all up to us until we finally realize that all we need to do is return to God.

God does so much for us – He provides for us, protects us, and cares for us – and He wants His will accomplished in us, so that we can be our best, live the blessed life that He intends for us, and contribute to His master plan for the world. Stay close to Him, and be open and available to His will.
